Tattoo stories...

I have noticed something interesting going on during my shoots of my tattoo series. My talents have been talking about their tattoos. How they came about, why they got them, what they mean to them and other people. It is very interesting... I tell people that I don't have any tattoos because I couldn't take the pain, but maybe it's just because I don't believe in anything that strongly to have it on my body untill the end of time or would I believe it tomorrow...

Finally, tattoo bodyscape not on the back.

This tattoo was around the arm. It wasn't completed yet, but I loved the black and white abstract form. This Tattoo maybe finished during this quarter, so we may see how it changes in a month or so...

The series continues...

This tattoo was right between the shoulder blades. I like the shadows, but I think that the tips of the shoulder blades may be a bit hot. And I think I may have used to much of a bulls eye composition, but the shadows my forgive that.

Another Tattooed Bodyscape

My talent for this photo had a tattoo that covered most of her shoulder and down around her shoulder blade. This made lighting tricky but fun and interesting as well. While it wasn't a bright and bold tattoo, It was very detailed. I chose several different photos to try and capture it's complicity. I think that the subject is light well and the shadows complement the tattoo nicely.

"An interesting quote"

I heard an interesting quote in my photo design class that is ringing around in my head that I'd like to share here with my millions and millions of followers, wait hundreds of, no wait...three followers. It was a quote by artist Andy Goldworthy. ( Who is amazing, worthy a google!) He said " What lies beneath the surface affects the surface." I think that maybe one thing that I am exploring with my Tattooed Bodyscape series.

My second tattooed bodyscape

Although I like this for many reasons, I think that my fill light could be a stop brighter. Other than that I like the cropping and the shadows. the color of the tattoo also shows up nicely.

Walter Looss

We are doing a report on a photographer of our choice and I choose sports photographer Walter Looss. He has photographed world series, Olympics, and Super bowls. Along with action photographs, he also does portraits of athletes as well. They are all amazing and I can wait to dig deeper into his thoughts.

My first tattooed bodyscape attempt

I think this shoot works fairly well. The shadows are nice. There is good skin detail and the colors of the tattoo are bright and clear. However, I wish I had framed the whole tattoo. Overall, this photograph gives me much hope and ideas for future photos.

Portfolio work

I am going to explore photographing tattoos close-up. I am going to call it tattooed bodyscapes. I will try using side light to get texture and shadows. I think they will be low key shots with interesting angles. So I look forward to posting some of them over the next few months.

My first blog

This blog is about my life in my critical thinking and portfolio development class. It will teach us how to better communicate what we want to say with our photographs in a visual world and i am looking forward to the challange. We are also going to be given the chance to enhance are portfolios. I look forward to this because I am always trying to better my portfolio.
